Commercial & Administrative Facade Design

  • Year: 2024
  • Area: 800 m2

Description:

Designed for a tight urban footprint, this facade tackles the spatial challenge of an extreme height-to-width ratio. Rather than allowing the narrow plot to create an visually overwhelming vertical plane, the facade utilizes volumetric breaking and material depth to rebalance proportions and establish a strong street presence. The design strategy decomposes the main massing into two interlocking, bright white geometric shells framed around a deeply recessed central core. Clad in vertical warm timber louvers, this central axis acts as a visual break that draws the eye inward rather than strictly upward. Integrated planter niches within the central timber core introduce biophilic elements, softening the transition between the commercial lower levels and upper administrative offices. The ground-level threshold is defined by a slate-grey textured boundary wall with vertical cutouts and greenery, providing security while maintaining visual openness. Combined with high-transparency commercial glazing, the structure achieves a balanced, modern composition through light, shadow, and texture.
